About PamelaJoMusic
Pamela Jo is a lifelong musician and vocalist with a love of nature and earthy, rootsy, front porch music.
Born and raised on a family farm in the rural north Alabama foothills of the Appalachians, Pamela Jo grew up immersed in old time, bluegrass, gospel, and country music. Her first instrument was her voice, as she began singing at age five. She started playing ukulele at age six and guitar at age seven. In high school Pamela Jo learned piano and bass guitar, and in college she received formal training in classical guitar and music theory. These days Pamela Jo sings and plays banjo, guitar, ukulele, and mandolin. She performs original compositions, original arrangements of traditional songs from deep in American history with English, Irish, and Scottish roots, and occasional cover songs.
Pamela Jo has performed at music venues and festivals throughout the southeastern U.S. She has taken several prize ribbon awards in women's vocals, group vocals, and banjo at the Florida Old Time Music Championship. She has taught workshops in banjo and harmony singing at the Florida Folk Festival and the Will McLean Festival. Pamela Jo teaches private banjo lessons in person and online. She publishes instructional videos that are accessible through a small membership subscription on Patreon.com/PamelaJoBanjo.
